1.59 inches (40.4 mm) Diameter
This amazing marble was made by hand with molten glass. There were no prints, paints or stencils used. The images were created with large murrini cane' slices !
The murrine cane technique is an old Italian technique but it has never been done like this before! The canes are made like sushi rolls and are stacked, and pulled into smaller canes, the images are actually on the end of the cane! The canes are then sliced and the images are encased inside and added to the surface of the marble.
The murrini used in this marble was made by various artists and was skillfully assembled by Betty into an amazing fantasy scene. -featuring a skunk, inspired by Pepe la pew, peeking trough a garden of flowers (probably looking for Penelope the pussycat) with a butterfly on the side and a Rainbow of dichroic glass overhead. A butterfly and flowers (with a hint of sparkling dichroic) are in the forefront of the scene.
There's also a flower murrina on the back surrounded by aqua speckled glass.
There were only a few of these made and this exact design may never be made again. Own a Unique piece of the emerging American Glass Art culture. - Start your collection today.
